HELP! Gnats are flying in my home. Lately, it’s been so humid outside and inside. I live right by the lake. I don’t over water my plants but they stay damp longer. Some of my plants had mold on their soil but already treated and gone. Then, I noticed gnats flying in my home and around my plants. My plants are okay so far. What should I do to get rid of them? They don’t seem to fall in my vinegar trap. Any other suggestions?

I use the refill traps. I believe they’re apple cider vinegar. It smells like it. Should I put dish soap and sugar? And thanks again for helping!

Work Mosquito Bits granules into the soil to kill the fungus gnats larvae. Also, mix 1 tablespoon per quart of water to make a tea and water the plants every time. You can also bottom water with the bits in the watering pan. It’s not harmful to beneficial insects. Use neem oil or soapy Dawn dishwater (insecticidal soap) to kill the adults until the Mosquito Bits has time to break the life cycle. External traps/sprays only kills the flying adults. The source of the problem are the juvenile larvae living in wet soil feeding on roots. Letting the soil dry out more will reduce fungal growth.
