We're moving home and the moving company won't take plants over 5’ Anyone any advise on how to relocate this 10’ bird of paradise. I also have a 6’ Audrey Ficas. We're only moving a couple of blocks and we are in the Chicago area.

Wrap it up, box it up yourself and tell them it’s delicate and see if they’ll move it. But also, if it’s walkable, would still try to box it up. Which may mean lots of cutting cardboard, taping and measuring to make a box that it fits in. But carefully bringing the leaves to the center to try to wrap them with maybe a towel and then a rope should make it much easier.

You could also box it up and put it on a hand truck to make it easier to walk over

If there is a Lowe’s or Menards in your area, they rent pickup trucks with flat beds. You could wrap them, put on the truck and drive them home.
