Tips, tricks, help for a somewhat fragile string of bananas that I just found spider mites on today. There were only 4 of the webs I found when I inspected the whole plant, and I removed those. But I have read too many remedies and I am not sure what to go with. So if anyone has something that has worked on a string of bananas before, that would share, I’d be super duper thankful!! The whole plant basically died like a month ago, and so I bought another one, then the dying one decided to come back to life. But it’s newly grown, so still a little fragile yet. In case that matters.

What I personally did for spider mites is I took my plant and drowned it in a bucket of indoor pest spray (I just used one off Amazon ) Let it dry over night and then did that again and left it in a corner away from All my other plants for a week and repotted and my plant is doing amazing now. Im not a plant expert just saying what worked for me! ❣️ good luck

Thank you!! I’m no expert either, obviously lol So I’m googling and looking for any advice on here so maybe I can come up with something that will help. I was really trying to avoid repotting since this plant was just repotted a month ago, but I may have to do it anyways - depending on how treatment goes. I appreciate your advice!! 😊

Beneficial predators! Especially on a plant that is hard to spray or use and of the other remedies on. I use the combination predator mites from “natures good guys” that target a few different types of spider mite. There are other companies out there though!

Thank you! I have heard of folks using different “friendly predators” on houseplants - I’m a little on the fence about it myself lol We pay a lot of money to a company to keep bugs OUT of our house 😂 so I’m not sure about bringing them in my house 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I do appreciate your advice and I will be checking into it 👍

i mix a few drops of dr bronner’s castile soap and essential oils (tea tree, peppermint, lavender) in a spray bottle filled with water, spray the plants and soil daily or every few days depending on the severity of the infestation. this has worked 100% for me in the past

I will make a note of this and see if I can get the ingredients. Thank you very much!! It’s not a bad infestation at the moment, so hopefully easy to clear up!! I am monitoring the plant closely!
