Another testimony on why it’s important to carefully examine all your plants on a regular basis for pests. I found two mealybugs on one of my tiny hoya Mathilde plants. I check this particular plant each week because it’s adorable and it puts out little fuzzy leaves. The adult mealybug bug was slightly hidden. The smaller bug was spotted when I drenched the plant with hand sanitizer (rubbing alcohol). This plant has been on my kitchen window for months getting bright indirect light. I’m sure one of my new plants brought in the pests. Now, all 50+ plants in the area is suspect.

Eek. This is why I systemic everything I get haha. Thankfully I’ve found mealys and most other pests to be selective in what they eat. Could just be on that Hoya and surrounding Hoya and none others

I had them before in February. Brought them home on an orchid along with spider mites. Took me several weeks to get rid of them. I am diligent with my routine. I guess I missed a plant.

How do you get rid of them? I found 1 on my marble pothos but not on the others nearby

I sprayed mine hand sanitizer left over from Covid because it has rubbing alcohol in it. Neem oil and insecticidal soap can kill then too. I sprayed the plant, under the pot and window sill where I kept it. I will spray everything in the room. I usually spray them once a month with a soapy Dawn dish water solution.
