Hi all. I suspect I’m losing a plant, so I’m looking for some confirmation, any tips, & sympathy. 🥺 This flaming Katy (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) was part of an arrangement at my moms funeral last April. I’ve struggled with it the entire time. It seemed I couldn’t find a site it liked. Then aphids. Then water was going through it super fast, so I tried bottom watering & think I’ve now given it root rot. One’s a dry stick. The others’ leaves are falling off & one’s stem is turning black. I want it to live for sentimental reasons, but is it too late? Can I take clippings & propagate it? I feel terrible for not being able to make it happy. 😢

You can definitely propagate and start fresh in a smaller pot. In my experience, they need a lot of light to prosper. Mine is in room that gets sun almost all day.

Awe, I’m sorry. I’d start fresh and restart it in water and give it new life. That way you’ll feel good about it when it regrows for you. Get it a special litttle pot when you’re ready to put it in soil and maybe pick up a grow light. Good luck 💜

Sorry I’d not liked your reply earlier! I’ve come back to report the main plants are near dead, but I’ve some little stems in water (which I’ve never done—water propagation), & they’re showing roots! One hasn’t yet but I added them later. I’m feeling better about losing the plant with these pups. 🙂
