New to taking care of this plant, first bought it from Lowe’s and it was heavily watered removed it and placed new soil. But it started wilting and leaves dropped (this plant had 5 more leaves) just wondering what i’m doing wrong as it’s such a gorgeous plant

It might be the shock of reporting it they are really sensitive to having their roots messed with. Make sure it’s getting plenty of light and see if it bounces back. I’d cut the sick leaf off. I did that and put mine under a grow likght and it bounced back and has new growth. I repotted in Molly’s mix tropical soil. I think it’ll bounce back. Good luck

Sorry if message was confusing. I wouldn’t repot it now, it’ll stress it out. I’d only repot it if you think there’s root rot or pests (as a last resort). Mine came in a plug/roots wrapped mesh so I had to repot it. I’d just start by removing the leaf and see how it does. It may just need to adjust. It’s common for them to go into shock after repotting so hopefully that’s all it is. The picture looks like it’s in shade so try moving it to a location with more light if that’s the case. I am no expert but mine is finally growing and I recently bought another Alocasia and it’s doing well. I’ve learned a lot from two YouTube channels Wild Fern and Aloha Plant life. Wild fern is my favorite I watch all her new and old content while I’m doing plant chores or in the evening when I’m unwinding. She also responded to my DM on Instagram when I was having issues with mine. She has a video on how she had to cut back her Frydek that taught me a lot. Plus she’s adoring lol 🪴💜

Also you might want to put it on a pebble tray with water

they die in the fall sometimes especially when they are new, the bulb (or whatever they are called for alocasias) will typically grow new leaves in the spring

Alocasias can be a bit particular. I successfully unalived one last year. The other one, got all the way down to one leaf and magically came back. They like humidity, so a pebble tray, group with other plants or buy a humidifier. I also recently found out they are VERY susceptible to some pests, so it’s important to inspect them regularly so you can catch anything early
