My fishbone cacti don’t look too happy, they’ve been looking like this for quite a while. I’ve been following the planta custom schedule to the letter, what am I doing wrong?

I have all my plants plugged in for watering too. Planta tells me to water them when it’s not needed. When Planta alerts me to water a plant, I check it with my moisture meter first.

Thanks so much! I’ll look into investing in a moisture meter

The box tells you where a variety of plants should fall on the meter. I’ve researched my other plants and determined where they should fall on the meter.

definitely agree it needs more light. also looks a bit over watered to me, which is probably from the lack of light. these plants really appreciate their soil drying out fast and more sunlight will help with that

Got it, I just got a grow light I’ll make sure to set that up! My dorm this year in school doesn’t have as much light, my room last year was so sunny that they started to turn red at the tips

Yeah Planta’s water schedule is definitely not accurate. Everyone’s own environment will play a part in when a plant needs to be watered. Be careful still with a moisture meter. I had one when I first started my plant journey and if I followed it, I would’ve killed all my plants due to overwatering. It was NEVER accurate (and I spent money on a good one). I use a chopstick now and it’s free and easy and always accurate ☺️.

moisture meters actually don’t measure the level of moisture in the soil, hence their unreliability. even nicer moisture meters only measure the level of conductivity in the soil, which is increased when it’s wetter, but there are lots of other factors these meters don’t consider, like the amount of air in the soil, level of certain conductive minerals, etc
