Why does this white dry calcium looking stuff keep happening to the soil of my plants?

    this is mineral build up, mold has a fuzzy appearance and will grow much faster. mineral build up can be from hard water or softened water, it’s the excess mineral salts appearing after the water evaporates. flush the soil often (monthly) to help remove excess, rain water or distilled water will work even better

    Based on the looks of it it’s more like mineral then mold. It’s doesn’t have moldy fuzzy stuff. Likely the water from my faucet that’s causing this then.

    looks like mineral buildup from tap water and under watering. use filtered water if possible and make sure to throughly soak the soil with each watering. i had the same problem and honestly it’s more annoying than harmful.
