So, I just repotted a bunch of plants and for some reason a few of them seem to have gotten mold on the top. I would have guessed it was the soil except none of the ones with mold were from the same batch/bag of soil. Anyone know why this is happening or know of a way to prevent/deal with the problem?

Start by isolating your plant, since mold can quickly spread from one pot to another. Then, in a well-ventilated area, scrape away the top few inches of soil. If the mold is relatively new, that should do the trick. If the mold is deeper than an inch or returns after a few weeks, you need to repot the plant entirely using an organic soil made for potted plants.

the first and last pictures look more like mineral build up than mold to me. fungi growing on the soil surface aren’t inherently harmful, it is however an indicator of either over watering, not enough airflow, or both

How does mineral build up occur? And would it be possible for it to happen within a month of repotting?

it comes from extra salts and other minerals in your tap water. it can accumulate in as little as one watering i’ve found if the water is particularly mineral-heavy

Do you think it would happen to all of them if that were the case or is it possible to only have it happen with some?

I get this same thing when there’s not enough air flow on my plants or not enough drainage.
