I got this in April and since then it’s lost all its white leaves. Any ideas on how I can encourage the white leaves to come back and new vines to shoot out? It’s one of my favorite plants🤕

Plant experts, feel free to correct me on this. To my knowledge, white leaves don’t last long on any plant. As beautiful as they are, they’re virtually useless because they don’t produce any energy due to their lack of chlorophyll, a photosynthesizing pigment. When the plant realizes that the white leaf is a waste of energy, it kills the leaf off.

But yes, if you’re looking for the short lived beauty of white leaves, brighter light should do the trick

Thanks for the info!
좋아요 1개I’m no expert. There are no hard and fast rules that say white leaves die off first. Many plants contain mostly white leaves like sage, dusty miller, syngonium holly, many caladiums and others. Better to check the roots since you have no new growth as well. Could be watering issues. Hoyas hate wet feet. Check lighting to see if it is sufficient. Check fertilizer and humidity levels to see if they meet the needs of the plant. I have the same kind of hoya, Krimson Queen. It gets 8 hours of bright indirect sunlight, the first 2 hours of sun after sunrise, high humidity (70%+), and it gets water about every 7 to 10 days when it’s almost dry.

I’m gonna try and repot it since it’s been in the same soil since I got it. Thanks for the advice!
0개 좋아요I’d say it looks like it needs more light. General rule of thumb for variegated plants is that all white leaves is too much light and all green leaves is too little light.
