Hey y’all this is my first time taking care of plants and I’ve been doing well but this Bougainvillea has been scaring me with the sudden increase in yellow leaves. What can I do ??

    This might not be a problem at all, but that terracotta pot looks a bit mouldy. I had a tradescantia in a terracotta pot like that and it’s doing so much better since I repotted it into plastic.

    My experience with bougainvillea is they want sun and heat. Mine yellows and drops leaves when it comes inside, partly from environment shift and partly from not enough light. It could also be a problem with water. I let mine dry out almost completely before watering. Mine tells me when I let it get a little too dry by wilting. Watering perks it right up. A side note - terracotta saucers will let moisture pass through to the surface below, ie your carpet. I learned that the hard way as a renter with hard wood floors.

      This is why I stopped buying unglazed terra cotta pots. Too much collateral damage.

      I moved it to the carpet (closer to the window) since it started to wilt and yellow away from it. I’ll keep that in mind however regarding the leakage!

      I learned when I do use a terracotta pot I soak it in water until I no longer see bubbles then it’s good to go.
