Battling a scale infestation on my Pyrrosia fern. I always thought that the scale was a single insect until I put it under my microscope. Apparently the adults become immobile and create this protective scale to lay their eggs under. The new generation hatches and leave when they are old enough to find their own location to become a “scale” and start the process again. I’m sorry for how gross this is 😂.

Not gross at all! That’s so cool! I mean, I don’t really want to find them on my plants but still really cool!

Sadly, I’m very knowledgeable on scales. Some came in on my new plant recently.
