I bought this amazonia elephant ear on friday at walmart. it looked exactly like this when i grabbed it, and has shown no improvement. i haven’t watered it at all because it was very very wet, so i just assumed it was overwatered and would bounce back. planta dr also said it’s overwatered but i can’t find any pictures of an overwatered amazonia that look like this. im worried it could be something else? picture is 2 separate leaves

Hmm… I don’t know what overwatered looks like either, but I would guess yellowing leaves? You could remove the soil and add new stuff to help it dry out! I think mine came from Walmart too, and she came with a wild leaf as well 😆

If your soil is now mostly dry, go ahead and water it. You don’t want to stop watering to the point of swinging too far the other direction of under watering right after once a plant has been overwatered, since that can cause dry rot. Looks like the leaves were in process of unfurling and growing but stopped. Might continue after a drink.

…also, Alocasias need a LOT of indirect light! Might need more light, try adding a grow light.
