Hey everyone! Just a quick soil question! I know you’re not supposed to water a plant till it’s fully dry, but the soil in my snake plant and in my bird of paradise has not dried in over a month. I’m worried about root rot and overwatering, but I’m not sure what to do. Is there a preferred soil for certain plants? Or should I add rocks for drainage? Thanks in advance!

Definitely check the draining on the soil! I usually take a stick and poke it. I did have to repot my bird of paradise because the soil was too compacted. She likes a tropical mix with sand, moss, bark and perlite.

Thanks so much! I’ll try the holes first and plan to repot soon

I agree w the above. Ur soil must be too compacted. Either repot or poke holes into the soil and move it around a bit.

Snake plants are practically succulents. I have mine in a cactus mix that is nice and airy. It does take a little bit for it to dry out, though. Check on the app and Google to see what plant likes what soil. Just might mean you need to add some perlite or orchid bark.

Soil needs to be able to drain better. I know the soil from some stores is so bad so I change mine when I bring it home.
