Is this stem rotting or just brown from the dirt? I’ve had this albo for a little over a month and it went through a few round of neem treatment for some mite webs which haven’t returned. But it’s health has just seemed pretty stagnant so I checked the roots under the dirt they seem good but I’ve never had a mid cutting. All the really dark spots had white underneath the surface so I just assume its wet dirt. Let me know what you think.

I’d just use fingers to see. If it’s soft and squishy that’s your answer. I’d probably remove it myself and help the plant not waste time on that or for it to spread. One bad apple really does soil the bunch. I’m also a noob so I could be wrong, but that’s just what I’d do. It can’t hurt if it is root rot, as some would say it’s probably gonna die anyway.

Maybe soak the roots a bit to see if it’s dirt? It’s hard to tell from the pics if it’s rot or not… maybe place it in water to see how the roots do for a while?

If it’s mushy and stinky it’s rot try taking a brush like an tooth brush and try to get some off
