Help! My rubber plant was fine for about 6 months then started dropping leaves one by one. The first few leaves had a brown spot on them, now the leaves look perfectly fine when they drop. I recently moved it closer to the light and started watering less at a time, but more frequently. We are holding strong at 2 leaves with a little sprout!

Does your pot have drainage? If no other pests/visible issues have been found on your plant then I suspect its in too large a pot (drainage or not) for the plant to handle the moisture. You want it in a pot that is 1-2” larger than the plants’ root ball. If you haven’t recently, I would definitely check the roots to see what they’re looking like.

The pot does have drainage, but maybe you’re right, maybe it was too big of a pot! I never thought about that. I’ll check the roots and go from there. Thank you!!

They usually drop leaves when they don’t get enough light. Get it in a shady spot outside if you can, or a south or west window. Water when the soil is dry and then soak it deeply

I moved it to a more bright indirect spot in the house and since then it only dropped one leaf and it’s been weeks since that’s happened!

Over watering doesn’t mean giving the plant too much water it’s the frequency in which you water. When you’re watering it you should soak it and give it a good amount of time to dry out!

Thanks! I think the pit may be too big, causing the plant to not use all the water. I’m gonna check the root situation and go from there! Thank you for your help! 🙏😊
