HELP! I’ve had this calathea ‘Dottie’ for two months and recently it’s leaves have started to curl up and dry out. I keep it watered regularly and it is in bight, indirect light. I just repotted it today, this pot has drainage holes, and it does not have root rot, but I can’t figure out why the leaves look like this. Someone please help me!? I want it to thrive at my house.

Not sure. My calathea’s soil is always moist and it’s in a south facing window in a bottom shelf so doesn’t get direct Sun because the patio has an awning. I think they like indirect light and lots of water.

It looks like underwatering. They like high humidity and misting also.

It looks more like overwatering to me.. if the leaves are not crisp, but seem to be more ‘mushy’, i’d say overwatering and hold on watering for a bit

Some leaves are crispy/dry and some are mushy. When is the best time to water her? Like, when the soil is still damp but not wet or when the top inch is dry? I’ve heard both 😬

Also, they are sensitive to the type of water (I just woke up so I don’t recall if it’s lime or acid) but my tap water basically killed my calathea.

Would regular bottled water work or should it be distilled water?

Rainwater or distilled water is best. Purified drinking water is ok if you can’t get distilled or rainwater. They also need good drainage. Getting a moisture helps a lot. They are acid loving plants. The Healthy Houseplant has a good article on them.
