Hey guys, I just got a string of hearts in the mail but it looks like it had a rough time getting here (It took 5 days so that’s probably why) but I was wondering if there’s anything I need to know or do to help it live?

All I know is have a well-draining pot and don’t over-water! Likes part sun best, but accepts full sun. If you JUST got it, they don’t recommend repotting, watering, or sunning the plant for the first couple days when sent through the mail. Hope that helps!

I watered it before I read this but not too much so I hope I didn’t hurt it🥲 Thank you so much for the advice!!

It’s okay! I’ve just killed one before from over watering and it hurt my heart. Plus they’re kind of hard to find and expensive. Just let her dry out well before the next watering…too little is better than too much. And don’t get any on the plant itself, it’s prone to rot. I stick a tiny funnel in the dirt where there’s an empty space to water, wait for it to run out the bottom and stop.

Make sure the pot and soil it came in isn’t waterlogged. I’ve had plenty plant mail that I have to immediately repot because the soil came in drenched and was suffocating my plants roots! These babies love drying out and can go a longggg time without being watered. I only water when the leaves start getting softer and not as stiff.

Oh wow! The pot it came in wasn’t waterlogged thank goodness, it was actually bone dry but after reading this, it’s probably a good thing. I watered it some yesterday so I’m hoping I didn’t hurt it🙏🏻Thank you so much for the advice! I’ll definitely be cautious now about overwatering!
