There is a brown spot on my orchid. Also some of the flowers have a tiny hole in them. Am I doing something wrong? Should I do anything to fix it? I pruned the plant that is in the same pot because it also had brown ends. It doesn’t really get sun, is that the problem? The rest of it looks pretty healthy though.

My guess is sunburn but not sure. How long have you had it?

I have probably had it for less than a month and for the first few days I put it outside because my bedroom doesn’t get much sun. It hasn’t been in the sun for a while though.

Could be a fungal spot. Assuming you know not to wet the leaves? I’d also check the roots for any rot. There is a plethora of videos on you tube about how to remove moss substrate, cut out rotted roots and repot with new substrate, but its a visual process best learned on video. Its a standard thing you should be doing as soon as you bring any orchid home from the store since the way orchid growers pot them with not enough air and then force blooms. They sell them more as cut flowers, just to enjoy the bloom and then toss since no one bothers to research what these plants need. 🫣😜

Am I supposed do anything if it is a fungal spot or just repot it and check the roots?

Do I wait to repot it till it’s done flowering or will the fungus spread?

This is great advice, thanks! I just got an orchid, as well, and this is really helpful! 🙏🏼💚

If the spot continues to spread or worsen, you will want to treat with a fungicide. Repotting will help the plant stay healthy and resilient thus helping it fight off any infections. Repotting while in bloom may cause the plant to drop its blooms. If there were no problems, I would say wait. But since it is having some issues, repotting is probably the best option for the longevity of the plant. There are great resources on line.
