Has anyone had success keeping a Begonia Chlorosticta alive? I just got a baby plug that all but 1 leaf melted away within the first week of putting it in its new dome home. Got activated charcoal at base and layered pearlite then aroid mix near top. I think it might be a goner but thought i’d reach out to any advanced Begonia people out there. I’ve heard they like to melt whenever transplanted. But if i’m doing something wrong please tell me! 🙏🏻🌿 (Ignore crocodile fern in back) (Second pic is what it looked like a week ago)

I haven’t tried growing this specific Begonia but I have a B. Pavonina (🦚) who also like really really high humidity. The leaves of my 🦚 ‘melted away’ after shipping but it recovered and grew some new roots after being placed in a glass dome. So excellent drainage (drainage holes), super high humidity and high temperatures would be my recommendation since they seem to have the same needs 😃

I suspected as much that it is just part of what is does after being shipped & planted. I hope the one leaf stays so it can grow back! 🙏🏻🤞🏻If not, do you think there would be any hope in it re-growing with zero leaves?

I saved my begonias by cutting away the rot and growing in water. after a month or two I rooted them in leca and they’re doing great :)
