I’ve been battling with my Dieffenbachia since I brought it inside last fall. I’ve had to trim a lot of it because of yellowing/dying leaves. I wasn’t sure what the problem was but I just noticed these “Y” shaped white things on the underside of some leaves. I’ve researched but nothing I see looks like what I have. I’ve dealt with mealy bugs on other plants and these don’t look like that. Has anyone ever had this before? I just sprayed it down with neem oil hoping it will help.

Maybe thrips? I’ve never had them personally but my dieffenbachia had yellowing and dying leaves, and some kind of pest as well. I used neem oil every three days for about 2 weeks and it solved the problem.

Those are aphid sheddings and fortunately not thrips ☺️ Shower the plant with a jet of water and spray it down with some soapy water. Repeat the treatment if needed.

That makes perfect sense! They do look like a shedding! My husband thought aphid too but I couldn’t find any pics online unfortunately. Thanks so much!!! I can’t wait to get this plant back to its original beauty

Aphids. Buy a systemic insecticide and treat your plant.
