My desert rose has been slowing dropping its leaves and i can’t figure out why. They get these weird brown spots then shrivel up and drop. And the bulb has just recently gotten slightly squishy. I don’t think it’s overwatered and it’s definitely not getting too little sun. Any ideas?

Hmm, looks like watering issues… maybe you’re watering it too little?

That would be my guess yeah, I’m gonna try giving him a little bit of water today because his soil is completely dried out.

Have you tried using a moisture meter? The fact that the bulb is getting squishy is concerning. That sounds like overwatering to me.

Yes i have and i love mine, but i don’t think it’s over watering, I’m very careful about letting it dry out between watering.

It’s really really tricky to underwater them and really easy on the other hand to overwater them. Based on what the spots looks like and that the bulb starting to get squishy I would say that it’s getting a bit too much (compared to the amount of light) or that there’s something going on with the roots. Lightning can also be tricky: had mine in a south facing window with direct sunlight for 8h a day but that wasn’t enough so I also added a grow light and now it’s thriving. This of course depends on where you live but to sum it up, the combination of too much water and too little light is more common than the opposite 😅 But I’ll cheer for both you and your desert rose 🙌🙌🙌 keep it up!

I think it probably is the lighting. I’m gonna see if I can find a good grow light for him, any suggestions?
