I repotted this clipping of a Calathea on Saturday. I dont know anything about them but it had a full root system and has been under a grow light since I brought it home. I moved him into my bathroom today as I read the humidity from showers can help with the curl (its been getting worse). Any thoughts would be appreciated as he's brand new and I dont want to have to throw him away!!!!

Calatheas are super dramatic so don’t panic yet 😅 Curling usually means stress, not that it’s dying. They’re picky about water and humidity, keep the soil lightly moist (not soggy) and make sure the pot drains. If you’re using tap water, try filtered or distilled since they hate chemicals. Bathroom humidity can help, but only if it still gets good light. A grow light is usually better than a darker bathroom. Since it was just repotted/moved, it’s probably just adjusting. I’d give it a little time before changing too much these guys love consistency.

Thank you so much! I was really stressed that it was too far gone haha. I have a window in my bathroom that gets bright light. However, I also impulse purchased a humidifier. Would it be best to move it back under the grow light with a humidifier (along witn my other plants)? Or leave it in the bathroom for the shower humidity?

Totally get the stress. Calatheas love to test our nerves 😅 If you’ve got a humidifier, I’d honestly go grow light + humidifier. That gives steady light and consistent humidity, which they prefer over the ups and downs of shower steam. Bathroom is fine short-term, but consistency is key with these guys. Once it settles in and you see less curl, you’ll know you’ve got the right spot 💚
