Would it be safe to assume that this plant is being choked out by the pre existing spiderwort. We just moved here, and had no idea that these guys were actually there. I don’t want to pull out the spiderwort, and if the pansies die it’s fine. They weren’t gonna live that long anyway.

    It looks like they're getting along okay. You might trim or move the spiderwort occasionally to help it play nice, but they both look like they have thier own territory. The pansies do look streseed though; they might need water, or fertilizer if the spiderwort has outcompeted them for nutrients

    The tradescantias have threadlike roots. They typical block out a plant with shade to the need growth being a ground cover. Pansies die off as the weather heats up. They only sell pansies in the fall here in South Texas. They die off by April or are replaced by summer flowers. The soil might need nutrients added like manure to build up older beds. I add cow manure as a top dressing on my large outdoor pots because I rarely replace the soil. Too heavy. Try working soil amendments in before planting new plants. Check the ph level of the soil to be sure it matches the plants. 🪴🍀
