In this episode of "Orchid mix from hell" we got a new update: not only does the soil I got from Amazon contain mushroom spores, I am now seeing an abundance of white worms in the roots of my blooming orchid. Please let me know if they're harmful or not, I'm just staring at it in terror because I know I can't repot now. Also bonus question, will the worms try to escape and live by my side, or will they at least just stay in the pot? It was funny at first when I saw a rogue mushroom poking out but this is quickly getting ridiculous. Thanks everyone!🧡

I don't have an answer for you. I'm sorry. I just came to say if it were ME i would throw the whole thing outside and let nature that care of it 😂😂🙈🙈🙈

I have had this same issue! My best guess it’s some sort of pot worm or nematode. Whatever they are, they stunted the growth on my calathea and monstera. I first noticed these worms under my potted plant and it seems they like moisture and some warmth. Once I saw a couple, I started to see more and more. I repotted and my calathea did not make it due to other factors but my monstera is slowly getting better. I haven’t seen the worms since! Google is pretty conflicting about whether these worms are good for your plant or not. From what I gather, these worms are more likely to be found in compost bins. Im so sorry I couldn’t be much help but I hope someone can clarify. Definitely in a similar boat. Good luck!!

Idk wtf that is lol You could do a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water to kill them. Check online for ratios.

Internet says it’s a pot worm as mentioned. They aren’t harmful but does mean your soil is consistently wet/moist. Let the orchid dry out as in as you can then do the HP/water mix and that should lower or kill the population.

I'll make sure to let the soil dry out more between waterings!

What type of orchid do you have? Many of them shouldn’t be potted in normal soil
