Help! My monstera just started getting black yellow. I tried giving it a good watering a week ago and it didn’t help. It’s been doing great and all of a sudden, got unwell. I had this same problem with my last monstera. She’s in a north facing window with mostly indirect light. What should I do?
Also, all the new leaves that are coming out are black.
this is also related to the overwatering, the leaves will release excess water (called guttation) and some of that gets trapped in those baby leaves, causing bacterial growth and rot.
0개 좋아요 overwatering. north windows are full shade, they never catch enough sun for a plant like a monstera. a plant needs adequate sun to use the water in it's soil, lack of sun can cause overwatering even if everything else is perfect

좋아요 1개 take it out and look at the roots. snip off anything that's mushy, wrinkly, or stringy. let it dry for a few hours and then put it into dry soil. move it somewhere brighter, my thai con loves my west window.

I agree the North window is the issue. I have a few plants that like/tolerate that amount of light, but not monsteras. Take out of the pot and check the situation with the roots. May need to repot/look for root rot.

Plantgeek is definitely right. It has leggy petioles facing every direction, a common symptom of low lighting. Anytime a plant gets mushy up top and starts going yellow or black like that, there’s typically some kind of rot in the root system. You should definitely repot him with better draining soil mix, and try to get a brighter window or a grow light for it. You can get some beneficial (bacteria? fungus? bugs? I don’t remember) that treats most rhizoctonia and other bacteria that cause root rot. You got this, if there’s green it’s saveable!

They love a chunky soil mix. Orchid bark, perlite, charcoal, with a lil splash of soil not much. I’ve found that monstera like soil that drains quickly and doesn’t stay 100% damp. The roots like to breathe a little bit
