Alley’s Crazy Plants

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice on this fella. He’s giving me a run for my money and seems to be quite the dramatic fellow. One minute he looks dead the next he is thriving like crazy! I’ve noticed we’re in the dead stage again 🤣 with some yellow leaves/brown tips and drooping. I’m thinking it’s overwater or light issue but I’m curious if you guys think of something else.

How much light is it getting? Does it get direct light?

It’s not direct light. But the window is about a couple feet across from it. So I’d say it’s indirect sunlight.

I can’t confirm the issue since the plant looks fine right now. The plant should be a shade darker. I agree with send_nodes that it needs more light. Spider plants typically are not fussy if they get bright indirect light, if their soil is allowed to completely dry and if they get water before they droop too much. Their leaves will fold close if they are too dry. They need regular fertilizer in the growing season. Clay pots can draw water from the soil. Be sure to give the plant sufficient water. 🍀🪴

That’s good to know! I’ll try to relocate him somewhere else and see if it helps. I was wondering that with the clay pots because I do see water on the outside of the pot. Thanks for that little tidbit. I didn’t realize that! 😊

You can bottom water to let both the pot and the soil take in water.
