This is one of my prized possessions, and they haven’t been doing well for a while. I thought I was over watering but some of the leaves have brown spots while others turn completely yellow (pictured) so I’m not sure. No pests, and it’s about 10 feet from my east facing window that gets morning sun. Please help!

Did you check the roots? Could have root rot?

Most of the roots are healthy, there were a few soft brown roots that I removed so maybe they just needed to be cleaned up?

Oh man, that definitely seems like root rot to me. Monsteras rot super easily if they get overwatered or if their soil is too dense. You can totally save your plant though!! Start by trimming off any brown mushy roots so the rot doesn’t keep spreading, and soak the healthy roots in water with a bit of hydrogen peroxide to kill the bacteria (Like two parts water, and one part hydrogen peroxide). Then rinse the roots and repot your plant in a smaller pot with fresh soil! I definitely recommend getting a chunky aroid mix, or adding a bunch of perlite/orchid bark to regular potting soil to help prevent more root rot. Molly’s Aroid Mix on Amazon is a great, super chunky, well draining soil that would be awesome for your plant. Check it out! Monsteras are super hardy, so I’m sure your plant will be okay!! Lmk if you have any questions or need more help ❤️❤️

Thanks so much for the advice! I’m planning on repotting this weekend into something smaller with better draining soil!

Definitely agree with the above post. And I’d say move it into a smaller pot by at least a few inches. That may be contributing to the moisture issue because the roots are overwhelmed by the space/soil. Also, may want to get closer to the window. My monkey mask is right next to a SW facing window with a curtain sheer to cut the harshness of the light on sunny days. They’re wonderful plants and so fun to propagate! Wishing you the best with recovery!
