Over or under watered? I switched soil last week because was definitely overwatered but it’s been in dry soil a week and looking worse now and still dropping leaves. Time to water again or keep letting it sit?

Looks like under watered now but often over watered plants need more time to adjust before another watering. Maybe just a small watering?

So I took a look at the profile you have for this elephant bush and it’s saying you watered it 9 days ago. If you’re watering it every 9 days, then I’d say it’s overwatering. I’d wait at least 15-18 days before watering it in the summertime, and some elephant bushes need to wait 20-22 days once they’re really big. They need to completely dry out between waterings. I would like to note that it might be in too big of a pot from the looks of it, which might be contributing to the problem. If it’s in a larger pot with extra soil, it’ll take longer for the soil to dry out between waterings. And if they’re sitting in excess moist soil, that can lead to root rot in the long run. I’d opt for something no more than 1-2 inches wider in diameter than the width of the plant’s root ball. Elephant bushes like being more snug in their pots and getting rootbound between repotting, so downsizing the pot might help it too. Hope this helps!

Would you water it a little after repotting? I got it downsized, curious if I should give a little water?

Not if the soil is still wet or you watered recently. I’d wait until it’s at least 15 days before watering, unless you reduced it completely to its roots and removed all the soil.

I mixed in dry soil and it’s been super dry for about 10ish days. Will probably just play safe and wait another 5 before watering again! Thank you!
