PLEASE help!! My entire collection it seems is at risk. I don’t know what started this exactly, but from what I can recall, my triostar bit the dust pretty fast with similar symptoms. I’ve never seen anything spread this quickly, it looks like some kind of fungus or bacteria or mold or something, but it’s acting incredibly fast. All of the plants I have on my piano area are infected- leaves are yellowing and dropping like flies, some within hours!! None of my plants on the piano are touching, and some of them I just got within the last week. I just got a spider mite infestation and used diluted Neem oil and a 1:4 ratio of isopropyl alcohol and water on the infested ones and quarantined them, they are all healthy thus far. I did also spray Neem oil on the rest of my plants as well, but mostly only the ones in the piano area are affected with this. I’m just very confused since neem oil is also a fungicide… See pictures below and I’ll put more in the comments- PLEASE drop any advice in the comments, calling on my plants community right now!!!

I used to spray my plants with the same ingredients and had the same outcome. I decided to stop using neem oil, hydrogen peroxide and water and my plants are thriving. Just use water and spray them out for better results

I think they’re suffering from chemical burns from the isopropyl alcohol. Even diluted it’s too strong for our plants. Give them a good rinse in the shower and really flush out the soil, after they dry, cut off all the dead/ yellow/ wilted. I use captain jacks insecticidal soap. If there’s green, it can be saved 🪴 good luck!

Oh my gosh, thank. You. So. MUCH! This is all making sense now- So I did spray most all of my plants with the neem oil, but since neem oil seems to kind of sit at the top of the jug after shaken, I’m thinking I maybe let it sit & poured that extra concentrated layer on top straight into my spray bottle & went nuts. I only used the neem oil plus the alcohol mix (a bit of an overreaction, I’m seeing that now) on the plants that are now in post-treatment quarantine from mites. And all of those babies are doing perfectly fine- which I’m now realizing it’s probably because I gave all of them a really good shower after treating them with the sprays! The ones that didn’t have mites, I just sprayed and left them alone. I cannot thank you guys enough for replying… I have been pulling my hair out over here so confused, worrying about some kind of cross contamination or airborne mutant mold spores going on over here. 🤣🤣 This makes so much sense now, I just didn’t put 2 + 2 together. I seriously can’t thank you enough!!! I know my poor fiancé will too lol, bless his heart- he’s probably so sick of hearing about how all of my plants are gonna die! 🤣 so so so relieved. 💕 yall are angels!!

I fully agree spraying alcohol freely all over the plants can harm them. I dab mealybugs with a swab containing alcohol. I recommend moving the spider plant to a 4” or smaller pot. It looks overwatered from sitting in an excessive amount of soil. Give it more light and fertilize with diluted fertilizer to bring back the dark green color. 🪴🍀
