Is this mold growing in my soil? (I know it’s dry. I just took this out of the cache pot to water it.)

    Empty it, wash the roots and repot in a chunky soil mix

      You’re probably right. I’d rather not have to untangle it from the trellis, but that might be my only option 😭

      OH NO!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Can you not just rough it with laying it down somehow over the sink? Holding your breath the whole time of course 😂

    looks like flower pot fungus (l. birnbaumii)! it's harmless to your plant. it actually helps breakdown decaying matter and provides nutrients to your plant. if you want to get rid of it, you can flush the soil with diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide or simply scoop them out. you can also water less and allow your soil to dry out more between watering. you can also repot your plant in a well-draining aroid mix. these will help reduce the mold by lowering the water retention and humidity (which mold thrives in). overall, these aren't a big concern unless they overtake your pot. however, if your scindapsus isn't already in a well-draining mix i would definitely consider repotting it since scindapsus like to mostly dry out between watering. otherwise, you could definitely leave it if the plant is otherwise healthy.

    You need to clean your roots and dip in a diluted vinegar and water solution. Replace all your soil and clean your plant pot before you replant. Vinegar and water is a natural fungicide and antibacterial solution. It will help kill whatever is growing on those roots and keep it from coming back as well. Make sure you clean your plant pots out with a vinegar and water solution as well. It’s good to clean all your garden stuff with the vinegar and water solution as well.

      Hi Shawnna, I love using organic/natural products in my garden. Does your vinegar solution work with sterilising snips and secateurs etc, and is it good practice to wash raw roots when repotting and transplanting?

    It's a very happy flowerpot parasol. If you decide to keep it, it can bloom into a cute little mushroom. If it blooms frequently, that can be a sign of overwatering, but for the most part it just likes the same kind of soil as plants. If you want to get rid of it for aesthetic reasons, just aerate the soil and go a little longer between waterings. I actually separated one of these from one of my plants and I'm now keeping it in its own pot. At some point I'm going to give it its own fungus and lichen terrarium
