My handsome Robert black velvet plant is slowly dying I think. When I did Dr Planta it suggested he could be under watered. I gave him more water and he perked up a little but today I lost another leaf. There’s only two left. Can he be saved?? Thanks !

It's tough to see how big the plant is or what kind of soil. I could be way off with this but could the planter be too big and holding too much moisture

I would take out of pot and check the soil. If roots look ok, add something to lighten up the soil. It could be perlite, orchid bark, pumice, etc. Regular potting mix is generally too dense for Alocasias. Actually too dense for almost any plant.

It's super concerning when a plant loses all of it's leaves suddenly, but thankfully this isn't a bad thing with alocasia plants. Alocasias will sometimes go dormant to their bulb stage (called a corm) over winter so they can save energy and get bigger when spring hits. I would look for care schedule of an alocasia corm so you can bring it back next year ✌️

Hi Jae, Are you familiar with this type of spotting just before dormancy? This is the second consecutive year this has happened, with the exception that it has been happened more than a few times this year. I’ve treated it several times with Arber Insecticide and Fungicide. Otherwise she has been super healthy. Any thoughts? The smaller plant was a corm that fell from the bottom of the larger one when I initially repotted her. Thank you for any tips and tricks 🪴
