I got this gift for Christmas! I’ve never worked with bonsai but I have a few succulents and other house plants. What’s the best resources you’ve used to learn about shaping/ pruning? Any other tips or recommendations on pots/fertilizers/ shaping tools would be appreciated as well!
Is my bonsai okay ? I water and it’s near sun light fear it’s dying or dead ??

Can anyone help me identify this bonsai plant. I’m not having any success within the app or google and I want to make sure I can take care of it properly. I got it at my local Lowe’s store a little over a week ago, I currently have it located in my living room window with the blinds infront of it so it gets partial sunlight, partial shade. I’ve only watered it twice since I’ve had it and the leaves are falling all around it. Here’s a photo the day I got it, and here’s a photo of it currently.
Hello again! About 3 weeks ago, I posted my new dwarf umbrella bonsai and received some care tips. In the meantime, I noticed it was dying and couldn't figure out why, and when I moved it today I accidentally dropped it and realised that the plant was literally just sitting in a hole in the top of the rock. 😅 The roots were bone dry - whatever roots there are haha. So I've kept it out, and popped it in some water to rehydrate and hopefully save. Once it recovers, I'd love to pop it into the appropriate soil medium and treat it as a new propagation. Would you all agree that this method would be the best bet? Is there anything I could do differently from the usual propagation methods to eventually acclimate it to becoming bonsai again? Hello! Hope you're all having a great day! 😁 I am very new to bonsai (relatively experienced with other plants), and I got this cool little dwarf umbrella one for my birthday last month. I believe it's called root over rock (which is new to me!) Please correct me if I'm wrong haha. My question is, what is the best way to water and care for it? I've been watering it from the top of the rock, where I can see the roots are coming from, and letting it sit in the cache tray for a little before draining it - am I doing it right? Please feel free to also send any other tips my way! Thanks so much in advance! 😁🎍
Hey guys! I recently got a new ginseng bonsai, she’s really tiny. I’ve noticed that she has been having some leaves fall off :(. We are starting to get into winter in Canada, so I was wondering if this either would have something to do with the temperature or sunlight? She has been placed about 5 inches away from a south facing window, and since I felt like it might be because of the cold I’ve put her on a wool scarf beside 2 of my other plans (both of which seem to be doing fine) and I’ve bought a grow light in case which should come in tomorrow. I’ve also read about new environment stressors so not sure if this is just her adapting. If anyone has any advice I’d love to hear!

Hey guys this is Genghis Khan, my new juniper. I just got him today and repotted since it was in a very small wet and moisty plastic pot. I live in Arizona and this is my first time starting bonsai, does everything look good, any advice on how to wire better or when to cut and where ?

This is Narith. He's a ficus benjamina being trained for root-over-ruin style. He's bounced back well from some heat damage, so today he got a trim and a couple of large bits of gravel to root around for practice. I'm going to make him a miniature cambodian temple to grow on, so in the next few months he'll be learning to grow with his roots exposed
This is Poppi, one of my Elephant Bush Bonsai. Recently I moved my trees inside due to the varying temperatures during fall in the NE. My jades have been dropping leaves and I’m not exactly sure why. Maybe the different climate inside vs. outside or possibly under watering? Side note: planning to do a good prune in the spring unless otherwise advised.
This is Bon(sai) Jovi. He’s a Fukien Tea tree. My first ever bonsai & my pride and joy. I found a rock with fossils in it while on a walk and decided to make a little mountain range around it. Have been in love ever since. Currently trying EXTREMELY hard to get my flowers to fruit 🙃
