This is just a reminder that instead of using plastic trays under terracotta or plastic nursery pots, you can use thrifted glass dishes! These are often cheap and decorative ones like this are totally my style. There are also more simple options but either way they’re so much prettier than the plastic ones, plus they’re better for the environment :)
There is a podcast called I Said No Gifts, and I think that every time I have a new plant in hand. I also think, “I said no more sites” as I experiment with spreading out the herd, and then bringing them back together. This would be easier if that window was a little lower. I didn’t trust my idea of low light, so I slapped a couple panel lights in there. Looks cool, but I also live in a semi-studio situation, and that was originally a reading area. Walking in my front door is a litmus test for future companions. I might take pause if I walked into a living room full of snake enclosures, but only because that is a smell that you cannot mask (snake barf is arguably the worst smell). The other sub site is due to the light it uses not fitting anywhere else. Because I didn’t hang my blackout curtains quite right, more plants for the bedroom 😃
Hey guys! I had a question about neem oil. When you spray it on the plants, do you wipe it off? Do you leave it? Or just wipe the to if the leaves? Which do you guys recommend? Which do you use for African violets? My violet

Hi, so I'm going to be doing a massive repot to change the soil since it isn't easy draining but I'm unsure what soil to make up. Is easy draining compost, stones and perlite fine for pothos, polkadot and added stones and perlite for succulents? 🌱🪴
Hi, I added a grow light to my plants since they are far from a window. If I have the grow light, then in the plant info I put in the Planta app for distance from window, would I put zero feet? Or leave it as the distance from the actual window? I don’t have the premium version of the app so I can’t access the info for grow lights.
I am definitely an overwaterer so I am highly considering getting terracotta for some of my plants. I was going to pick some up at the dollar store but thought that maybe there is a difference in quality (like everything else). Is this the case? Should I pay a bit more for something better or is it all the same? All Terracotta pot tips are welcome as i have never used them, and also recommendations for where to get them as well! TYSM

Hey Guys!!! So my plants seem to have a gnat problem! Ugh I have found an infestation in my begonia. Changed the soil sprayed everyone with neem oil and they are still here. Everywhere. My poor little fiddle leaf fig has been attacked so much. I don’t know what to do. I have apple cider vinegar and dish soap that catches some but most just go for my babies. Anything helps! What is everyone’s favorite methods of self watering while on vacation? Also, when do I apply them? Should I water big the day before I leave and put the self watering things in then too? Or should I water a few days in advance letting tho soil dry out somewhat before putting the self watering devices in the day I leave? Thanks in advance!

was going to throw away this finished exfoliating scrub container but got the idea to poke a hole into it and make it into a pot! also it’s a super sturdy container and it’s pink 🥰🩷🙌🏼
Does anyone have experience with self watering spikes or other devices? I will be on vacation for 2 weeks and I have almost 30 plants all with their own watering needs or schedules. I was thinking about putting them in the spare bedroom with a slow running humidifier, maybe set to 30%. It has the best light. I’m not digging the idea of purchasing all those self watering spikes.

What should I use to fertilize my air plants and my water propagations?
Does anyone happen to know anything about circuitry? One of my grow lights stopped turning on and I wondered if it was the circuit board. It has 5 individual LED strips so I would say all the lights probably didn’t all die at the same time. I fixed a different grow light once by re-soldering a broken circuit, but that about the extent of my knowledge in the area
