Hi everyone! I have a monstera prop in water. Some roots have formed but it noticed just now that it looks like this. I’ve never seen that happen. I changed the water about 5 days ago. It doesn’t smell like rot and it’s not squishy. The black part is still firm. What should I do?

I’m not sure what this is but since it’s firm maybe it’s more related to the water. Have you tried spraying with rubbing alcohol? I spray the glass of my monsetra water props with alcohol after cleaning and before replacing water

No I never did that, I only spray down the roots with hydrogen peroxide. I figured since I use hot water and soap to clean the glass, it would lift and kill any bacteria.

Nice! Looks like the leaf sheath which usually dies off eventually anyway, being water logged must be accelerating the process.

I would just pull it up so it is not fully submerged
