I recently got this albo, been about a month. It put out a new leaf and the bottom leaf turned yellow so I cut it off. Now the oldest leaf is turning brown on the tips. I have it under the grow light and only water when too 2 inches are dry and I keep the moss pole moist. Please help! Also looks like the stem has browning too.

Could be root rot that is spreading. Not an expert, but I would consider removing it from the pot and examining the roots to see if that is what’s causing it. If it is rot, chop the plant to remove the rotten part of the stem, making sure you leave a node, and place it in water so that it produces new roots.

The brown on the stem is just the leaf sheath drying up after its leaf has emerged. So no need to worry about that. It does look like the roots may be staying wet too long. Like Genoveva said, it may be a good idea to check their status. I know from experience that it can be hard to keep a moss pole moist without the pot soil also being constantly moist. But the pot soil should be allowed to dry before watering again

This is a good point about the moss pole. When it’s open all the way around like this it requires quite a bit of maintenance to keep it moist, so you could probably skip watering directly into the pot altogether. But they best way to know for sure is to yank it out and check those roots 😊

It looks like some roots may have rotten. If the dark ones are squishy, cut them off. After I would rinse the area under lukewarm water. Then pot it back up. I would downsize the pot if possible. Just large enough to fit the roots and pole. From here, I would try to adjust your watering so you only water after the soil has become mostly dry

Ok I’m coming in with the opposite advice of our friends above lol. It looks like you have this in a veryyyy chunky mix, which is great! It shouldn’t really be holding on to a ton of water, so I doubt very much you’ve got root rot (unless it’s sitting in water in the cover pot??) Pretty easy to check for root rot, however. Just pull it out and check with your eyes AND nose. But I’m thinking it might need more water than it’s getting. It’s also reeeally close to your light source — it might be too close, which could explain the crispy leaf tips (don’t worry about the spent sheaths)

I think I need to only water moss poll and not the actual pot!

If all else fails you can cut everything off below the aerial roots and start over!

You can get Hydroguard and add it to your water. It helps kill root. It saved my root rot albo
