Never ever use Ice cubes on orchids since they damage the roots from the cold , and it's perfectly alive :) the blooming season ended a while ago, but a new spike should appear in a few months

Thank you for the tip! We haven't seen it bloom but hopefully it will next time. I am new to this whole planting thing so I have a. Lot to learn. :)

I totally get it! I had a hard time with orchids but I got better with them after a while :) a big tip is in all the ones I've repotted I got an orchid mix as opposed to the sphagnum moss it comes in to prevent root rot, and make sure not to get water in the crown of the leaves. (The crown is where all the leaves come from in the centre. The middle part of a mature vanda orchid, look it up!) Edit: I just saw you have an orchid mix, oops!

After the flower spike finishes is the perfect time to repot, especially if you see new root growth. Yours has some dead roots (some were likely just old, some may have been ice cube casualities), so it'll need a trim. First, bottom water soak all the roots for 20 minutes to an hour to make them more flexible. This also plumps up any dehydrated roots so it's easier to tell what's alive. Unpot and remove the bark (some orchid roots grab bark strongly; just let them keep any piece they grab.) With sterilized cutters, trim away any obviously dead roots (usually shriveled to the point of being hard and crunchy), then test any possibly dead ones (press on them. Dead ones are hollow and will reveal a stringy internal section if pulled.) Once all dead roots are off, inspect for any signs of root rot (moldy colors, moldy fuzz, bad smell, squishy in a rotten way) and treat with hydrogen peroxide if needed. Pot in fresh bark (let it pack loosely; orchids like a bit of air around the roots.) Yours seems reasonably healthy in the leaves, and the roots look decent but slightly dehydrated. When watering, thoroughly water until it drains out the bottom, and try to get water directly on the roots, not just the bark. Water about once a week and adjust if needed. I'll add a helpful root comparison to help you know what to look for
