Hi everyone! Sorry if this is double posted, I think my first post didn’t go through. I have this monstera that I was given cuttings of about 5 months ago. 2 months ago I combined them into this new pot. Since then I have gotten a new leaf that fully opened up last week. Two of the stalks (sorry if the wording isn’t correct, I’m new to this lol) have where new leaves would come out, but both brown areas on those parts. I’m wondering if they will ever have new leaves out of those areas? Or if there is something I should do? My cat chewed the leaf off one stalk (I know they’re not supposed to chew on them) and the other leaf got cold and turned brown. I cut off the brown edges, but then the freshly cut edges just turned brown so I have left alone. Should I cut this leaf off or just leave it? I fertilized it two waterings ago with specific monstera fertilizer I bought off Amazon, and watered 3 days ago - following the Planta schedule. I do have a grow light I could place under if needed (Michigan winter currently so not a ton of sunlight). I’m just not sure what to do now but I just want it to grow new leaves lol. Thanks! :)

The little flaps turning brown is nothing to worry about, that dies after a new leaf comes out, however the pot may be a bit too big for them right now, so I think a size down would help.

Thank you! What happens when the pot is too big? I didn’t know that could be an issue!

Big pots can lead to root rot as the soil is too saturated and therefore the roots cannot breathe (as monsteras are aroids) also you’ll see minimal foliage growth as the plant spends more time expanding its root system :)

I agree with Soup, the pot is too big. It should only be about an inch bigger than the root ball. Monstera’s can be tight in their pots. Also, I’d add more “chunky” to the soil. That could be bigger perlite, orchid bark, coco chips. Here’s how my soil looks for my big monstera
