This is Gaia, my 7 foot monstera!! She was a Facebook find if you can believe it. I need tips for a monstera this monstrous! I put her on a new moss pole but watering her is so difficult as I can’t move the pot. She’s also starting to have dry brown tips on a few leaves :( I can’t image she’d want less light (she gets bright indirect sunlight all day with a few of those leaves in the window getting direct eastern light in the morning) so more humidity? I’m scared to overwater her. :(

I SWEAR by Plants with Krystal. She’s on pretty much all platforms and she talks a ton of monstera care. Especially with her own giant babies. Hope this rabbit hole helps!

So I water my monsteras with my “magic fish poop water”… I swear by it. (Just spoke about it on another post😅)… you can see the growth in my baby. (The half leaf that looks horrible in the July pic is due to mechanical damage when pushing out of her heavily callused chop point). I do not have her on a moss pole (yet, still debating if I want to do that or let her build up her own support). Idk what direction the window she sits near is, but she gets a low quality grow light from 6:30a-9:30pm and night grow lights from 4:30-1am (simulate night/moon lighting). I definitely agree that a good healthy chunky soil mix is best. Mine will likely be getting a repot finally in the next coming months. (Still in its nursery/store pot.

for the dry tips, i recommend a humidifier. fixed it for me with my thai con. monsteras LOVE humidity. monitoring the soil dampness before watering should keep you safe from overwatering and root rot. just stick your finger in the soil. if it's still wet, hit snooze. if it feels like it'll be bone dry by tomorrow morning, it's time for a water!

Thank you!! I have two humidifiers keeping my house around 45% but I think I’ll buy this one her own personal humidifier as she’s so big and getting dry leaf tips! 💔

it seems to just be the lower leaves struggling, so i'd put it down there. if the juvenile (un-fenestrated) leaves don't make it, it's normal. the plant may simply choose to stop fueling them because the bigger leaves provide more energy.

Monstera is a gorgeous plant, but I hesitate getting one because they can grow sooo big. I think I’ll settle on the mini monstera instead 😂.

I’d look into a plant dolly so you can rotate and work with it better. How long ago did you transfer? Maybe the changes is causing stress and a little less light to acclimate might help? I only have a baby Monstera and they get indirect light with a humidifier and seem to be doing fine.

Less light to acclimate vs more? I agree I think she needs her own personal humidifier

It’s always worked for my plants. Less light for a week or two then graduate them to more depending on the plant
