Hello! This is my first Monstera (and my first plant!!) and I am so excited to take care of him. I see a lot of people with poles in their monsteras — does he need one? He is about 2.5 ft. tall right now at his tallest point!

    He doesn’t need a moss pole specifically but some kind of sturdy support it can grab onto would be good for it. When you attach, you want to do it between nodes, not on the petioles.

      Thank you! I saw that most people attach the pole to the dominant stem, how do you decide which one that is? Sorry for all my questions!

    Each individual plant only will have 1 stem. If you have multiple stems you have multiple plants in the same pot.

      I think you do too! They tend to fight for space so I would seperate them.

      Ok good to know! I just got him so I might wait for him to settle before separating the plants, is that a good idea?

    Giving him something to climb is to provide him with something to mimic his natural environment. He wants to climb and if he does he will get bigger leaves and more fenestrations as he matures. Godspeed!! 💚💚
