So this is Vanessa and when she came home she was literally the fullest, largest adansonii I’ve ever seen but now she’s getting limp and leggy so the app told me try repotting. I am TERRIFIED of repotting because it’s a 9/10 chance it’s going to die on me. (Ok, I’m getting better. Maybe a 7/10.) I pulled her out and she looks to have wrapped roots so I’m wondering how much of it (if any) I should pull and if I should change her soil and/or pot. I wanted to consult the masters before making any moves. She’s currently in an 8” hanging pot with side and bottom drainage. She also had some yellowing leaves and brown babies but I clipped all those so they stop stealing the nutrients. We’re still popping out new babies on a regular basis so I want to do the best I can to keep them unrolling. I know she needs to be watered more regularly and shifted to a bit of a sunnier space which I’m currently working on anchoring some ceiling hooks a bit further from her normal corner. I’d like to one day clip and propagate for my bestie but I want her to be comfortable and flourish here at my home first. I just need some assistance with how to proceed on her home life😫

not a professional hahaha but i’m the same way with repotting, i would push on the roots a bit just to break up the old dirt around the roots, if you want you can pull the bottom part a little so it’s not as root bound and the roots dangle a bit more. find a pot that’s 2 inches bigger than the root ball and back fill in the new pot. if there’s any dead leaves you can remove them as well

I’ve been soaking it in in a bowl of water in the planter it was in for 3 hours and the bottom is barely wet 😵‍💫🫠 I think I’ll start by loosening the bottom roots and see what that does. Thank you for the reply and recommendation!

These are so tricky I only just recently decided to take one on. They prop really well and easily in water - my friend had a whole bunch of cuttings with spaghetti roots in a jar of water for monnnths. An east window is best I think for light (mine is hanging slightly to the east of my southern window about a foot back) and be super careful of draft, they’re so sensitive. Looking forward to following along and learning about this one!

Thanks team! She’s been sturdy and slowly popping out some new growth but still a little leggy. I miiiiiight try to move her to a larger pot but I’m still hesitant (read: afraid, lol). Just working on making a new permanent ceiling spot for her to hang out at. But no bad news so that’s good, right!? :D
