Okay y'all. My very first monstera got fungus gnats. Managed to keep them away for 5 years. I've since repotted it into a much smaller pot with better, more well draining and chunky soil, put it on a moss pole and watered it in with super thrive. I'm debating putting mosquito bits in the pot as well, but I'm pretty sure I got everything. Was in a big one gallon pot but has since died back, so now I've fit it really snug into a 6". Cross your fingers for me that this helps revive her 🫣

    I highly recommend adding mosquito dunks to your water! My monstera got a nasty case of fungus gnats last year and that was the one thing that got rid of them since it gets the larvae in the soil. I put 1/2 dunk in my 1 gal. watering can and replace when it dissolves. I still water all my plants like this since it keeps any future infestations from popping up!       I wish I got the actual dunks then and not the granules. Do you use the dunk with any kind of water soluble fertilizer or just do that separate?

      I fertilize separately but I’m assuming you could add it to the same water! Not entirely sure though

    I would investigate a tad more, fungus gnats don’t often do that much damage… I have a recurring problem with fungus gnats as well, more annoying than actually damaging for me. Then again I also am currently battling thrips so it’s hard to tell 🤣 good luck 🍀

      The amount of larvae I had crawling about in there was concerning. Idk I'm more than annoyed with how many there are. It just seems excessive. I've never owned this many plants before so I'm not sure if I just never noticed the gnat issue or if these just came in a few months ago. Good luck with the thrips. Those sound even more annoying than gnats

    I honestly think do bottom watering and letting them stay. I have a friend that’s a horticulturist tell me there is no use, they just proliferate no matter what. Or you could do the dunks, but it will always need to be a part of maintenance forever. I think it’s just part of plant life. That being said fungus gnats larvae is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen.

      It's the larvae that are destroying my roots I think. When I potted that plant in the one gallon, she had the root ball for it. Now, the root ball is just perfect for that 6" pot. Went from big and full and about 10-15 leaves to pitiful and maybe 4 leaves that are just hanging on. Plus the adults end up dive bombing my eyeballs 😂 idk in over the gnats
