Hey! I’ve had this monstera for about a year and a half now. It has two regular looking speckled green leaves and it USED to have three gorgeous almost half-moon leaves. I went on vacation and my roommate ended up watering it every.single.day and those smaller gorgeous leaves turned yellow and died off. Now this plant for the past year has just stayed as the two really green leaves with ZERO sign of new growth. What should I do? It’s just not popping out any new leaves. I included a picture of the stem so you can see how it’s rooted/what the issue might be?

monstera like drying out between waterings. they also like being a little snug in their pots. if there's no sign of rot or fungus just keep doing what you're doing and be patient. make sure you are giving it fertilizer as well. I'm assuming this is an albo by the look of the stem? variegated parts don't like too much light and will crisp and brown on you. Just keep that in mind if you change it's location.

Oh cool okay thank you! It’s a thai con! And it’s been stagnant/zombie plant for a hot minute haha - I’ll give it some fertiliser

ah okay. same deal though with the light variegation. I have a larger regular monstera that didn't put out a new leaf for months but it was pushing aerial roots like crazy so I was just redirecting them into the soil and this summer it pushed 3 new leaves. It just did nothing for so long but it wasn't dying so I stuck to the process and it eventually did the thing 🤣

Variegated plants actually need MORE light than their all green counterparts because the lighter green/beige/white areas do not photosynthesize as well or at all!
