I've given my monstera a moss pole and it's rubbed and ripped a healthy stem and new leaf😅 do I leave it and see if it mends naturally? Or is there something to do in the meantime? I've taken the top moss pole off so it's not causing anymore friction

i don't think a moss pole does that.. check for stem & root rot. do not mist more than once every few days. humidifiers work way better than misting for monstera. if it does end up being the moss pole, you need to water it more. it should be consistently damp but not soaked. as for that leaf, let it unfurl as assess from there. cut off dead or dying parts. if the whole leaf goes, cut it off.

I’ve had this happen twice, looks more like stress to me. Did you repot when you added the moss pole? Having a plant shipped and repotting has caused this for me. When I repotted I thought it was the moss pole damaging the new leaf, but it turned out to be stress. The leaf continued to unfurl and bump against the moss pole with no further damage to the leaf :)

Thank you both! Luckily no root rot my monstera is very healthy, it 100% was the pole I examined before admiring my new leaf and there was nothing there, the pole has tie raps which unfortunately I faced the wrong way onto the stem and while adjusting and messing around it rubbed. I should have dampened the moss pole before hand and taken extra care😪 still very new to this!
