   Tissue cultures almost always will die off if you don’t properly acclimate them to your home environment. They spent their entire life in 90-100% humidity in a completely sterile environment. When you open it that will be the first exposure to lower humidity and bacteria. Keep it in a humidity cloche and be sure to gently remove all of the culture media from the roots before you plant it or they’ll rot.

     Wow, not what I expected…but if you get a successful rare plant I can see how you’d get a good price for it…are we talking a few hundred per plant? Or a bigger number that may blow my mind!?

   I use a mix of 50% perlite and 50% fluval stratum for my substrate! Rinse the agar off really well and cut any bad looking roots off. Then plant in the perlite/fluval mix in those parfait style plastic cups with the attachable dome lid to create a closed humidity dome. After several weeks and visible root growth I start slowly acclimating to lower humidity. This method has worked well so far for me :)
