    1) Monsteras aren’t meant for hanging baskets. You need to put it in a pot with a moss pole. Tie the stems to the moss pole… these are climbers. They have aerial roots that will attach to the moss pole. If you keep the moss in the pole damp that is. I like to get the thiccly poles with sphagnum moss. There’s lots of YouTube videos on it. If you can’t get one of those a simple cheap moss pole is better than nothing. 2) These like bright indirect light. They like to be under a grow light but not in direct sun or directly in window. In nature they grow under and attach themselves to tall trees. 3) They don’t like a lot of water so stick to a watering schedule. That’s what I’ve been doing with mine and she’s huge. Almost to the point I need to propagate her. Which once I do I’m going to keep her prop’s water roots and instead of putting them in soil I’m gonna try lechuza pon.

I was about to type #1 Definitely not meant for hanging. They get HUGE, and will eventually fall over bc of the weight

a lot of this isn’t quite true for monstera deliciosa. 1- there’s nothing wrong with having a juvenile form monstera crawling or in a hanging basket, though you are right it will grow healthier and happier with support. moss poles however are really not meant for plants with such thick stems as monstera deliciosa, especially not the mature form. a trellis or board is a much more appropriate support for such “beefy” plants. 2- monstera LOVE bright direct light. many people have theirs growing and thriving in south facing windows (full sun indoors). the more light your plant gets, the faster it’ll grow. they can burn though if not gradually introduced to full sun. 3- sticking to a watering schedule is not beneficial for any plant. the pot should be watered when it’s appropriately dry and no sooner. for monstera, this is when more than half the total soil is dry. plants are constantly changing how much water they use on a daily basis, depending on factors such as sunlight, humidity, and airflow so sticking to a schedule can mean you water your plant too soon or too late. hope this doesn’t come off as rude, the intention is to educate. hope this helps you take better care of your monstera :-)

Maybe my experience has been different than your guys… because mine is on a moss pole and it’s sized up a lot and done really well. I’ve also seen many people grow these on moss poles. But yes anything to let them climb up would work, something to support the stems. A cutting could go in a hanging basket yes, but not if you want to grow it bigger, it’s not meant for hanging baskets, most eras are climbers by nature. I had mine in a south facing window and it was too much light. Leaves were getting scorched and turning yellow, once I moved it way back and put a grow light on it, it began to thrive and the moss pole also stayed more hydrated. For me the watering schedule works, probably because I have mine in a bigger pot… so it dries out quickly…I would honestly forget to water it if it wasn’t for this app lol, but of course it’s always recommended to do the finger test first and if it’s still moist don’t water yet. But if you have it in well draining soil or pon, something that drains quickly…staying on a schedule will help you remember. I’ve seen too many people let these get root rot from inconsistent watering.
