Monstera Strong 💪🏻 Meet Mike Wizowski the monster Monstera. I acquired Mike April 6th. This was my first plant and it has been an amazing 5 month experience! Mike is halfway up a 3ft trellis by next year I am hoping he will bee 6-7ft tall! Now I have 20 plants and they are all doing very well.

So I am the son of a coffee farmer and grew up in Nicaragua (tropical jungle environment.), So I have personal experience seeing how these plants grow naturally So, I do a couple things to all my plants which as worked really well: 1. “Humidity Fertilizer Spray” - I mix a 1/3 (of a spray bottle) organic fertilizer (organic does not damage the plants like a normal fertilizer when spraying it consistently) with 2/3’s water. I spray all the leaves at least 3-4 times a week. Most people say that fertilizer does not get absorbed as efficiently through the leaves (which is true) but leaves still play an integral role in nutrient collection. 2. Make sure you water weekly, if you give water to a monstera it will suck it up quick. Monsteras grow up trees naturally so the few roots they have on the ground have to be very efficient so they do require weekly waterings and make sure water is draining every watering. 3. Soil needs to be highly drainable. For all my tropical plants I usually do 50% normal potting soil, 25% tropical soil (should contain volcanic rock) and 25% Peat Moss. (If your tropical soil does not have a lot of volcanic rock - add Perilite) 3. Once a month mix the proper mixing ratio of fertilizer and fertilize the roots in a regular watering. 4. 3-4 hours of direct light (NE or NW facing windows are best)
