Hi everyone, This is my first Monstera plant. I repotted him when I brought him home cause I wanted him in a drainage pot. I gave him a little bit of water but I didn’t think it was too much. The soil seems very dry now, it was wetter when a few leaves started to turn yellow a couple days ago. Then I thought maybe it wasn’t getting enough light because it is mounted on a wall to a south facing window. I put it in the window today to get more sun and it looks like more might be turning yellow. Do you think I overwatered it, it is getting enough sun next to the window, and/or it’s stressed from repotting? Please help!!

I should add when they installed my glass shower doors I told them I would remove the plants from the wall but they said they were fine. However, when I looked at them they had dry wall all over them!!

it looks like its just the lower leaves for now, i would trim them off, and keep an eye on it to see if the yellowing continues. the drywall shouldnt do anything, but make sure to wipe off the leaves if you havent already. if you trim them and no more yellowing happens, then i think its just the bottom leaves dying off to push out new leaves! and for future reference, (just in case you dont already do so) make sure to let the pot drain outside of the cache tray for a little while :) hope this helps

Thank you C. Cat. I’m going to trim the lower ones. After sitting in the sun today some of the higher leaves are starting to lighten too. The spike felt dry to me so I removed it from it pot and realized that all the new potting soil I had put in was completely dry and literally fell out of the pot into the sink. I repotted it and add WATER and let it drain out in the tub for a good 20 Minutes before I put the catch try back. I think the top leaves got lighter cause I put it in the sun and dried it out even more today. Hoping this watering will turn things around and I’ll do a better job repotting next time! I’ll keep you all posted! Thanks for the tips!

This plant loves the sun, due to its fenestrations. I’d guess it wants more light in the long run, but I think the current problem is just the oldest leaves getting shocked from the repotting and dying off. Old leaves aren’t anything to worry about, especially if it’s putting out new growth.
