I have a young Thai constellation monstera that’s currently about 10” tall. It’s grown 2” since I got it a month ago, but I want to give it a moss pole to help it out more. Right now, it’s in a 3” pot. Would I want to move it to something like a 7” pot to give it room to grow with the pole, or would that much soil/moisture be too much for the small amount of roots currently there? I’m looking at getting a moss pole (the kind you fill with sphagnum moss) that’s 3.75” across the front and 23” tall. This is my first time experimenting with a moss pole, so I’m open to any and all suggestions!

    That’s a really big jump, but it might be ok since the pole will take up a lot of space. You should wait until the little guy is super root bound in his 3” pot before making the move. There’s also not much point to giving it a pole before it starts pushing out aerial roots, because it won’t root into it until then. Based on the size of the plant, I’d say you have a while before that happens

    Rose’s advice is spot on the best you can do for this plant is give it good light exposure and time. I had a similar sized Thai con from tc and it took a year to get rolling, they prioritise root growth over leaf growth if there’s space so keep those roots tight.
