this leaf was perfectly fine yesterday. i’ve been waiting for two weeks now for it to unfold, what happened????? there’s no chunks of it on the table or floor anywhere. how could chunks be missing like this? and what are the black spots from? what should i do with it now?
Do you have a cat? It looks like a cat tried to eat it. If not I’d say pests.
3개 좋아요 i have three but i really don’t know when they could have had the chance to eat it. i keep all my plants pretty locked down in my room with the door shut to prevent it from happening. all of my cats seem fine too (no vomiting or anything) which is why i wondered if it could have been something else considering how toxic monsteras are for cats
0개 좋아요 Honestly, looking closer at the damage, I’m wondering if one of them was just swatting at it. It doesn’t look like bite marks. Seems like maybe one of them was playing with the new leaf. Is it near a source of air movement like a fan or heat vent?
2개 좋아요 agh that could be it. quite unfortunate. it’s under my ceiling fan and gets a little bit of movement but not too much. i suppose enough to peak interest. thank you

Oh bummer!! Yep. Looks like it must have been swaying a bit and caught the cat’s attention. I’d leave it. It will be a bit scarred up, but it’s still going to be a beautiful leaf.

My monstera is beat up in spots just like this from my cat swatting at it!
